Drawing from my Japanese and Korean heritage and my upbringing in Los Angeles, my work embodies a fusion of cultures that exists as both a celebration and resistance. Though static in form, my vessels and figures stand as quiet sentinels in the spaces they occupy and function as guardians of sacred artifacts and silence. Each piece contains fragments of my personal mythology, carved in clay and shaped by memory, traditions, and gestures.

Fantastical and otherworldly, my forms and figures take on a contemplative presence and interact with the environments they inhabit. I use coil-building techniques to construct my large-scale forms that are multi-dimensional and mostly symmetrical. Reminiscent of the process employed by fashion designers, my work goes through a creative process of composition and uniformity as I arrange and style each element. Guided by self-imposed criteria, I intuitively adorn and stylize my forms.

Glazes allow me to strengthen the identity and narrative of each piece through various applications. Ornamentation becomes a deliberate act of storytelling, reinforcing both structure and meaning. Each texture, including horns, flowers, and topographical embellishments, serves as a visual motif, embodying my personal experience, translated into clay.
